Stone has a high position in decorative materials and irreplaceable decoration. It is widely used on the "facade" of buildings. Therefore, owners hope that stone and buildings have the same vitality. Stone with good durability can not only ensure the beauty of the building outfit, but also prolong the repair cycle of the building. In order to make stone as decorative material for exterior walls and floors and halls, the following aspects must be examined:
  1. Physical properties of stone must be able to withstand many external forces including gravity, wind passengers, vibration, temperature changes, wear, load and so on. This requires a variety of high strength stone, especially high-level installation of stone.
  2. Stones with chemical properties must be quite resistant to chemical erosion such as weathering, hydration, dissolution, dehydration, acidification, reduction and carbonate. To do this, we must make stone waterproof.
  3. When choosing directional stone materials such as slate and shale, we must pay attention to the structural strength in different directions.
  4. The molecular structure of water-absorbing stone is relatively stable at the end of mining, but when exposed to the atmosphere, poor coordination of minerals occurs within the stone, such as the formation of calcium sulfate by dissolving the surface of limestone in the presence of acid (the reaction product of sulfite gas and water in the air), leading to the collapse of sandstone, etc. Therefore, stone materials with uniform pore distribution, small pore size and low water absorption should be selected as far as possible.
